Discover the beauty of natural gems, surrounded by many legends. Pearl jewellery has had its place of honour throughout the centuries. Their soft, luxurious beauty is second to none. They are the only gems that are created by living organisms.
They symbolize love, delicacy and elegance. White pearls, akoya, or black pearls, Tahitian, beautifully complement any piece of jewelry with which you want to dazzle in society.
HOW ARE PEARLS FORMED?
A small foreign body, e.g. a grain of sand, penetrates the animal's shell, and the animal then covers it with its own mother-of-pearl, which actually protects itself. Freshwater pearls are formed in the guts of river pearl oysters or sea urchins. In the sea, they are mainly produced by Pacific marine pearl-forming organisms.
Natural pearls are very rare today, and the demand has been increasing over the years. In 1893, an attempt was made to create the first cultured pearl. And so the breeding of pearl-forming bivalves could begin. Most of today's pearls come from farms where the so-called cores are inserted into the shells, which are then covered with mother-of-pearl.
DO YOU KNOW ALL TYPES OF PEARLS?
The most famous and most affordable of the already mentioned cultured pearls. There are freshwater and marine pearls. Freshwater pearls are white, black, or pink and are more affordable, as up to 20 pieces can be produced in a mollusk at once. Sea pearls are Akoya, Tahitian, and South Pacific pearls.
Akoya pearls are the most famous variety of all cultured pearls. They have a smooth, round surface with a high gloss and are grown in the cooler waters off the coast of Japan as well as in parts of China and Vietnam. We know white, light grey, light blue, and cream with undertones of pink, silver, and green. Akoya pearls are often considered a classic, timeless choice when choosing jewellery.
Tahitian pearls, also known as black pearls, appear in an unconventional combination of peacock green, purple, and grey undertones. Tahitian pearls are most famous in the crystal blue lagoons of French Polynesia. They stand out perfectly with men's cufflinks or tie clips. Ladies of all ages will appreciate them in earrings or a necklace.
South Pacific pearls have a transparent lustre and a vivid palette of colors - from light cream to subtle gold, which are suitable for delicate, minimalist jewellery. As their name suggests, this type of pearl comes from the South Pacific.
Freshwater pearls are the most colourful and affordable pearls used in jewellery. Freshwater pearls vary widely in colour, from white to pink to lavender, peach, and more. Freshwater cultured pearls are not actually made from oysters but rather from different types of freshwater mussels. Most freshwater pearls today are grown and processed in China.

PEARL AS A GIFT
When and to whom should you give pearl jewellery? It is a symbol of love, so you can't go wrong if you are looking for a gift for the woman you love. The pearl is also the birthday gem of June and is also suitable for a 30th wedding anniversary, referred to as a pearl wedding.
If you are looking for fine pearl jewellery, reach for pearl earrings or a pearl pendant. For life anniversaries, you can choose a pearl necklace. Black or gold pearls will create a perfect non-traditional piece of jewellery for lovers of original jewellery. In addition to round shapes, pearls also have irregular shapes, so there are really many options. You can never go wrong with pearl jewellery!
HOW TO CARE FOR PEARLS?
Pearls are very delicate, so they are not suitable for everyday wear. We recommend putting on the jewellery as the last step before leaving. Pearls are harmed by hairsprays, creams, perfumes, and any other chemical substances. Avoid heat and protect them from scratches and strong impacts. When you take off the pearls, it certainly won't hurt to gently clean them with a damp cloth before storing them in the jewellery box.
