From green, raspberry to orange! Did you know that garnet doesn't just have to be crimson red? This gem is suitable for lovers of pure, naturally warm colors and beautiful shine!
MEET THE GRENADE
Garnets were popularly used by goldsmiths in jewelry as early as Victorian times. This gem has a reputation as a protector, which is why many explorers and adventurers carried it with them as protection against evil. A powerful talisman, able to light up the night and dispel evil spirits, conquered all of Europe and not only Europe!
The garnet is said to have been one of the 12 stones placed in Aaron's breastplate, and Noah is said to have taken a garnet lantern on his ark to light his way.
A necklace of garnet beads has been discovered in an Egyptian tomb dating back to 3,000 BC. In ancient Greece, Plato had his portrait carved in garnet, and the ancient Romans used garnet to make signet rings.
WHY IS IT NAMED GRENADE?
The name pomegranate comes from the Latin word granatum, which means "pomegranate". Pomegranate therefore refers to the bright red seeds of the pomegranate.
TYPES OF GRENADE
CZECH GRENADE
Red gemstone mining has a long tradition in Bohemia, which continues to this day. Already in the 16th century, a deposit of red garnets was discovered on the border of the Český středohoří. The crimson red gemstone became the Czech national symbol and significantly helped the development of jewellery in our country, especially in Turnov and Jablonec nad Nisou.
The Czech Republic is still famous as the location of the most beautiful red garnets. But it is not the only deposit, it is also mined in Russia, Brazil, Tanzania and Malaysia.
MOZAMBICAN GRENADE
It has a warm blood red hue, like the African sun. As the name suggests, the gem is mined in Mozambique, and if you choose it, you can find this garnet in a variety of shapes and sizes at our jewellery store. From round, oval, square to marquise cut, baguette, heart and tears. If you have an idea of what cut and size you would like, write to us and we will send you an up-to-date offer within 24 hours.
RHODOLITE
The raspberry hue makes rhodolite an unusual and very interesting gemstone. Rhodolite is named after the pink flowers of the mountain rhododendron that grows in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, where it was first discovered.
We offer this raspberry gemstone in a wide range of cuts and sizes. The main deposits of rhodolite are in Africa, India and Sri Lanka. Rhodolite is a suitable gemstone for non-traditional jewellery with a story. We recommend it to all women who desire an original, not traditional combination of garnet and yellow gold. No other gem has a similar raspberry colour!
ORANGE GRENADE
The honey colour of the orange garnet has won the hearts of lovers of sparkling gems. Orange garnet stands out in all precious metals, but most in yellow gold.
It is technically called Spessartin and was first discovered in the Spessart mountains of Germany. Unfortunately, its deposits were not very rich, and even though it later appeared in Africa, the supply of quality orange garnets is still very limited.
In our goldsmith's shop, we offer you this gem in four shapes - round, oval, marquise and teardrop. If you are looking for a lighter shade of yellow gemstone, we recommend trying a citrine gemstone.
TSAVORITE
Thanks to its piercing green colour, tsavorite has become the most famous type of garnet. Tsavorite was discovered in Tanzania in 1967 and has been a favourite of gem collectors ever since. Tsavorites greater than 1 carat are considered very rare and desirable. The main deposits are in Tanzania, Kenya and Madagascar.
In our offer you will find tsavorite in round, oval, square and teardrop cuts.
OUR TIP
The red colour of garnet or rhodolite matches perfectly with the colour of yellow gold. It's a traditional combination that never gets old. Orange garnet and tsavorite will stand out perfectly in white gold or platinum jewelry. If you want to create an original piece of jewellery that radiates warm energy, choose a combination of orange garnet and yellow gold.
A SYMBOL OF STRENGTH AND LOVE
Garnet is a symbol of strength, passion and love. In the past, it was used as an amulet to protect the wearer from danger, which is why the garnet is known as a traveller's gem. It brings self-confidence and courage, keeps the organism in balance and gives the wearer peace of mind.
WHO SHOULD I GIVE A GRENADE TO?
Garnet is the gemstone of the month of January, or January stone. If you are looking for a gift for a woman born in January, garnet jewellery is a suitable choice. Whether you choose garnet earrings, a pendant with a garnet, or a ring with a Czech garnet, you can't go wrong with this magical gemstone.
If you want to give a truly original piece of jewellery, we will set it with a rhodolite that will emphasise the beauty of its wearer.
Looking for a gift for travelers? Follow the tradition and give a garnet as a talisman. The grenade will protect him and remind him of you forever.
Thanks to its range of colours and high hardness, garnet is a suitable gemstone for an engagement ring. The garnet will not scratch and will always sparkle beautifully.
CARE OF GARNET JEWELLERY
Garnet is a gemstone suitable for everyday wear. However, extreme heat and sudden changes in temperature are not good for him. You can get rid of dirt by cleaning with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm soapy water.
